‘Helene is een leuke docente,
ik heb genoten van alle lessen
die ik gehad heb.
Ze heeft geluisterd naar mijn wens en daar waar nodig geadviseerd.
Prettige manier van lesgeven
en heel vertrouwd.’

‘Right from the beginning
Helene showed me singing and breathing exercises that helped me progress a lot. Already after a few months other people noticed my progress and I felt more confident to sing in front of others.’

- Theo

‘Ik heb zangles genomen bij Helene, omdat ik mij goed wilde voorbereiden op m’n audities voor musicalopleidingen. Helene heeft mij daar super goed bij geholpen doormiddel van veel vertrouwen en trucjes geven.’

I am Helene Matthia, 37 years old, a Jazz Vocals graduate from the Prins Claus Conservatory.

I have over 10 years of teaching experience for adults and teens (6+), from beginners to advanced levels.

Lessons are available in English, Dutch and German.

I started singing at an early age - in choirs, ensembles, and theatre - but as a teenager, I often struggled with my voice and felt blocked.

These experiences shaped my teaching approach:
I create a safe, personal environment where students can explore their voices freely, build confidence, and deepen their connection to singing - whether taking first steps or refining their artistic expression.

In our lessons, we explore techniques that resonate with your voice and curiosity - from shaping vibrato and moving through falsetto to working with belting, vocal runs, ad-libs and distortion singing.

Together, we move through a wide and diverse repertoire, guided by your interests - from styles like Broadway, Jazz, Pop, Rock, or Traditional Folk.

I have successfully coached students for auditions and performances and help beginners overcome fears and blockades.

My main teaching location is HBS, a creative hub for music and performance in Rotterdam. I also teach at School of Music in Rotterdam and Parnassos in Utrecht.
